Instead of just sitting around the house watching it rain this afternoon we decided to drive around and watch it rain. We took off for the Flint Hills. Our first stop was in Eldorado for lunch at Freddy’s Frozen Custard where we had steakburgers. It’s the first time we’ve eaten at Freddy’s and it was different. We then drove the Flint Hills National Scenic Byway. It stopped raining for most of the drive and we stopped in for a quick visit of the Tallgrass Prairie National Park.

2008 Fall Vacation Days 5 & 6
Day 5 (Thursday) we started out riding around Ocean Beach and then rode over the San Diego River, then over the bay to Mission Beach where we rode around some more and then back to Ocean Beach. Got quite a bit of riding in. In Ocean Beach we shopped around at some antique stores where I found a few old bicycle ads. We ate at a Greek Restaurant which was a nice change from all the Mexican food we’d been eating.
Thursday evening we went back to the old San Diego historic area where we ate Italian at Pizza Bella. After dinner we drove down to the the Maritime Museum and where the cruise ships dock.
Today (day 6) we left San Diego and drove up the coast on 101. Stopped to watch some Dolphins along the way. Just shy of LA we turned and headed East to go to Tempe, AZ. We’ve now driven almost all of the California coast except through LA. Somewhere in AZ we stopped for lunch and at an antique shop where I bought a Mickey Mouse phone.
Tonight somewhere around Phoenix we ate In N Out burgers in a WalMart parking lot. I’ve always heard these burgers were good and they are. We’re staying tonight and tomorrow night in Scottsdale. Tomorrow we’ll be attending the Tour De Fat in Tempe!

South East Trip
We took a trip South East to ride rails-to-trails in Georgia, Alabama and Florida. When we finished the rides we drove to the East coast of Florida.
Pittsburgh, Lake Erie And Niagara Falls 2000
We took a 2 week trip to Pittsburgh, PA to visit Nova’s Sister and her family. While there we drove up to Erie and Niagara Falls and walked over in to Canada.
