Brown Thrush Nest

Update: 05-20-2012. The nest is now empty. No signs of eggs or birds at all.

A pair of Brown Thrush have taken up residence in a Barberry bush in our yard. No sooner than they had the nest built these eggs appeared.

While Walking

Last night on our walk we spotted this Clematis growing at a school.

Our neighbor has this rose planted along a fence we share. Returning home from our walk we noticed it’s first bloom this year.

While walking tonight we stopped in at the Dollar General store and picked up these really cheap seeds.

Welcome Site

I was weeding/fluffing up a flower bed this morning and found this big fellow/gal and many more like it. Worms are rare in our yard because it is clay but that’s slowly changing. Nova had worked over this bed pretty good before planting it years ago.

Watching Grass Dry

Or is it watching paint dry and grass grow? :-) I needed to mow badly today but the grass was extremely wet. So I paced around waiting for the grass to dry. While waiting I made myself a Ham & Easter Egg salad on toasted potato bread. Nothing like a little dash of pink, blue and green to make your sandwich more appetizing.

As of 1:00pm the grass was still wet but I mowed anyway.

Our mower a Toro Personal Pace Recycler. It’s a great mower. This is our second one. Last year one evening our first one broke. Something to do with the blade engaging handle if I recall. It looked to me like it needed a new part so in a panic we went out and bought another one. I figured our grass would be too tall by the time I got the old one fixed. Sometime later in the light of day I realized it was a simple fix on the old one. My Father took and is using it now.
We’ve had Snapper and Honda mowers in the past but this one works best.

Speaking of watching grass grow… www.watching-grass-grow.com looks like he has a similar mower.
