These cheap plastic lawn/patio chairs were originally a dark green and had faded. I brightened them up by painting with Krylon Fusion for Plastic paint. The only prep I did before painting was to wash them off. The sheen from the original paint had worn off and the new paint stuck really well. the downside is the paint is kind of expensive and each chair takes more than one can to cover it well.
