Errand 1: To get coffee for coffee maker.
Destination: Grocery store.
What I learned/observation: Our grocery store needs a bike rack. 2lb Can of coffee doesn’t fit all that well in a messenger bag and is a little unconformable to carry. I should stick to taking a bike with rack and panniers to the store.
Miles: 1.3
Date: 03-06-2014
Bike: Limited Edition 2005 Electra New Belgium Brewery Bike.
Details here.

Errand 2: To get lunch.
Destination: Mexican restaurant.
What I learned/observation:
My work boots need retired. Not all kids are juvenile delinquents. The Brooks B66 is a good looking saddle..
Miles: 5.7
Date: 03-06-2014
Bike: Monark rat.
Details here.

Errand 3: To get flower seeds.
Destination: Store other than grocery store. Dollar General.
What I learned/observation: Crazy weather. 59 degrees on this ride. Yesterday it was snowing and freezing cold. The Dollar General needs a bike rack.
Miles: 3
Date: 03-09-2014
Bike: Schwinn Heavy Duti.
Details here.

Errand 4: Work. According to the IRS blogging is my job and this package was related to that.
Destination: Post office to mail package for home business.
What I learned/observation: An employee at the post office gets a kick out of and enjoys discussing the different bikes I show up on. Who doesn’t get a kick out of bicycles in one way or another?
Miles: 2
Date: 03-10-2014
Bike: Bike Of Frankenstein.
Details here.

Errand 5: Ride for dessert.
Destination: C-store in another town for apple pie.
What I learned/observation: I still have some tweaking to do on the new bike. The heat today reminded me how much I dis-like summer.
Miles: 22
Date: 03-10-2014
Bike: Mongoose Dolomite.
Details here.

Errand 6: Coffee.
Destination: Parents house.
What I learned/observation: My parents live in the house I grew up in and I live right by the Jr High school I attended. Riding to my parents is the same route I took to school daily as a student. I wonder how many times I rode this route on my as a kid.
Miles: 4
Date: 03-12-2014
Bike: Chopped Murray.
Details here.

Errand 7: Breakfast.
Destination: McDonalds.
What I learned/observation: From the string of old retired people I watch exit the McDonalds upon my arrival, it appears they must have some morning pow wow there to which I’ve never gotten an invitation.
Miles: 3
Date: 03-13-2014
Bike 40s Western Flyer.
Details here.

Errand 8: Wild Card. To take advantage of free potato chip offer on National Potato Chip day.
Destination: C-store.
What I learned/observation: I believe I’m using this challenge as an excuse to eat badly.
Miles: 4
Date: 03-14-2014
Bike: Schwinn Straight Bar.
Details here.

Errand 9: Library (without walls).
Destination: City library and old oil well.
What I learned/observation: By reading my magazine I learned about the Minneapolis Midtown Greenway. The plastic saddle of Nova’s mtb made me realize how comfortable my Brooks saddles are. The library is the only place that’s had a bike rack… and I didn’t use it.
Miles: 5
Date: 03-14-2014
Bike: Nova’s MTB.
Details here.

Errand 10: Get beer.
Destination: Store other than grocery store. Liquor store.
What I learned/observation: Never do anything you wouldn’t want your Grand-kids to know you’re doing. You never know when they may be watching. 6pack of bottles carries fine in a messenger bag. I’m sure real messengers already knew this.
Miles: 2
Date: 03-14-2014
Bike: John Deere themed Schwinn.
Details here.

Errand 11: To get candy for St Patrick’s parade.
Destination: Grocery Store.
What I learned/observation: Nova is pretty good about being patient with me while I snap photos. I’m pretty sure I paid more for the candy than I would have elsewhere just so I could use the grocery store and count it as an errand.
Miles: 2
Date: 03-14-2014
Bike: Kustom Classic Schwinn Cruiser
Details here.

Errand 12: Dinner.
Destination: Great Wall restaurant.
What I learned/observation: Riding at night is such a different experience than riding in the day. Having so many bikes I have a hard time with lighting.
Miles: 2.5
Date: 03-14-2014
Bike: Mongoose Beast.
This was a night time ride. For my headlight I used a led flashlight strapped to the handlebars with rubber bands made from old inner-tubes. My tail light was some sort of blinky light hooked to my belt loop.
Details here.
