Veterans Day Ride With A Veteran

In honor and celebration of Veteran”s Day today, my Dad (a veteran) and I went for a ride to the Veteran”s Memorial Park in the big city. We trucked the bikes to Chapin Park where we caught the Arkansas River path that we rode into downtown.

Always amazed at how my Dad who doesn”t ride on a regular bases, can hop on a bike at a moments notice and ride non-stop, no problem. He is just just 2 months shy of his 80th birthday.

Wichita”s Veteran”s Memorial Park is a really nice park with many monuments dedicated to those that served in the various branches of the military during wartime. Pictured above is part of a display showing the different flags through our nations history.

My Dad is an Army veteran and served in Korea a couple of years after the Korean war. This map is just part of a larger monument on just the Korean war alone.

It was nice to see the park busy with visitors and veterans on such an important holiday.

We finished our ride just in time before the weather took a turn for the worse. Total we rode around 15 miles.
