Our first mountain bikes were Nishiki and the model the Colorado.
I purchased the yellow/blue one in either 1989 or 90 I believe. Up until that time we had been riding road bikes. I fell in love with the bike and single-track trails and soon after purchased the next year’s model and Nova took the yellow one. We rode them around here on any motorcycle trails we could find and took trips to Colorado to ride trails there. These became our go-to bikes and we gradually quit riding the road bikes and sold them. We replaced the Nishikis around 2002 with Specialized hardtails which would never get the amount of off-road use and abuse that these old rigid Nishikis did.
In 1990 or 1991 we also bought my Dad this Peugeot mountain bike as a retirement gift. He would ride the local motorcycle trails with us and and joined us once on one of the Colorado trips.
