This bike was originally a Western Flyer 3 speed I had last built up with some narrow 27 inch wheels as seen here, but I was having too much trouble with flats and repairing/replacing tubes in the supper skinny tires so the bike was stashed away sans wheels.
I recently built it back up with these old chrome steel 26″ wheels and Continental Touring Pro tires with a width of 1.75″. The rear wheel is a 5 speed. The difference in wheel size meant I needed different brakes to reach the rims so I swapped them out for these old Schwinn approved Weinmann brakes.
For what it is, it’s a fun bike to ride but not worthy of a permanent place in the fleet. I’ll ride it for a bit and then tear it down to make room for something else.
