Bike Life During A Pandemic – 3

It’s been 2 weeks since my last pandemic post. Not much has changed. Still doing coffee outside and occasional picnics when the weather is permitting. We rode to my parents for a visit, still meeting outside and keeping our distance from them. Several rides for no particular reason other than to be outside.

The morning of the day we visited my parents I quickly built up a bike for something different for Nova to ride there.

We avoid the multi-use paths as much as possible when we’re out. I’m always trying to scan and plan ahead should I need to alter course to avoid someone. Reminds me of the Pacman game.

Beer consumption is down. We don’t typically imbibe much at home and instead enjoy having them while out on the bikes at restaurants and bars which of course is not happening now. I’ve had 2 in the past 5 weeks and those were the last 2 we had here at home. I took them with me on picnic rides. The first was Defiance brewing’s Kansan American Wheat and the second Trader Joe’s Simpler Times pilsner. Both were pretty good. We did order a couple big label brews with our latest grocery pick up.

When it’s cold I usually wear Jersey gloves when I ride. They are easy to take on and off so I can operate my phone, camera etc… and they are cheap so I’m only out a couple dollars when I lose them. I wore through my last pair a couple days ago. I’ve not been to a store in over 5 weeks and plan to keep it that way for a while so I may have to overpay and order some online. I’m sure as soon as I order them the weather will warm up and I won’t need them. That’s fine.

The Pedaler’s Jamboree which was on Memorial Day weekend has been rescheduled to Labor Day weekend. We had our tickets bought and hotel room booked. Luckily we were able to cancel our room.

The pandemic has affected our lives more in other ways that are non bike related so I won’t go into them here.

I hope you all are still able to ride and are staying safe and sane.
