Bike Ride And A Canned Beermosa
This past Sunday we rode in to the big city with no particular plan like we often do. We hung around the south end doing a little exploring along with a stop for a cold brew coffee at a c-store. On our return home we stopped at the c-store near our house where Nova ran in and picked up a giant Bud Light Orange for us to share back at the house. We’re both fans of “beermosas” and really liked Anheuser Busch’s take on it. My first thought after my first sip was Orange Crush. Well I haven’t’ had an Orange Crush in forever which I’m sure is so much sweeter but this was so refreshing on such a hot and humid day. We’ll no doubt drink it again.
On a side note… a recent change in Kansas law now allows grocery and c-stores to sell what they’ve been advertising as “strong” beer. Previously if you wanted a “strong” beer you’d have to purchase it from what we refer to here as the “liquor store” which are stores that sell alcoholic beverages and not allowed to sell anything but (that may have changed with the new law). Before the change the grocery and c-stores were only allowed to sell what we called “3.2” beer. This is a little confusing though as it’s my understanding the 3.2 beer the grocery and c-stores used to sell was measured as alcohol by weight whereas liquor store beer is measured alcohol by volume. If you were to do the conversion I don’t believe there was really a huge difference between say between a 3.2 abw beer vs a 5.0 abv beer. Personally, I wish all beer was lower in alcohol content. The grocery and c-stores are now carrying a larger variety of beer including many local and craft brews since there are more options available in “strong” beer. Wine and liquor though are still not sold in grocery stores and have to be purchased at a liquor store. We do still try and mostly shop at and support our liquor stores though as they have more of a selection and are generally good with recommendations, helping you find a particular beer in their vast selection or even ordering something special plus they are locally owned.
We had the Bud Light Orange a couple of Sunday’s ago. Not bad. Had the baby aspirin taste. Iowa did away with state run liquor stores a few decades ago. With the craft beer boom, the skys the limit with alky content in C stores and grocery stores.
Yeah even our little local grocery store has expanded it’s beer selection and is even offering mix a 6 pack.
