Bluz Cruz #6

Yesterday we rode the Bluz Cruz Wichita which is a group ride on old bikes. This month’s hosts planned a route to an old Dairy Queen which was a good plan considering how hot it was but we arrived over an hour before it opened. After a bit of discussion we decided to just move on. The group ended the ride at a favorite spot for lunch and beverages.

Our starting point the Keeper of The Plains which is at the convergence of the big and little Arkansas rivers. Photo credit: Austin.
Our route mostly on bike lanes.

Someone suggested I pose with this mural of the Keeper Of The Plains and gave me the title “Keeper Of The Coasters” for my role of managing the Coasters BC events. Photo credit Austin.

  1. Nice photos and fun group. Out there your riding is much different that around here where it is all Lycra and dedicated bike outfits. And of course none of us would ride without a helmet ;’-). I do understand that others feel no need for one, but must tell you that it saved my skull from getting cracked on my fall 3 weeks ago. Fractured pelvis and a big dent in the back of my helmet — and I was going a a slow speed on a sidewalk!

I do enjoy your bike stories Randy.

    1. Yes it’s a fun group. There is a lot of lycra and helmets here too. I usually don’t wear a helmet but don’t deny they are a good thing. Sorry to hear about your accident and hope you’re recovering well. As always thanks for reading.

  2. This looks like a fun ride. There is an event for everything I suppose. Next thing you know there will be a three speed bike ride somewhere. 8>)
