First Day Of Spring Ride
I should know better by now than to step out on our deck which is nestled in an ell of our house to check the weather but that”s what I did this morning and all seemed fine for a first day of spring bike ride. I had a destination in mind and took off South towards it but quickly realized I was up against a 22mph wind out of the Southwest. I toughed it out till it was no longer enjoyable and then abandoned my original plan and turned West in to a little less wind. I rode a few miles West and then zig-zagged my way back home with the harsh wind now mostly at my back. This made for a 14 mile ride.
I stopped here to assess my situation. This old tree has survived a lot including several fires in it”s hollow trunk. It”s a landmark out here and it”s how I know where to turn to visit the cemetery where my family is buried.
Speaking of cemeteries… This is one I don”t believe I have ever ridden past before although I did know it existed. It is a really small township cemetery.
A chasing dog that I believe let me out run him.
So anyway there was my first ride of Spring 2014. Things can only get worse from here. More wind, rain, hail, tornadoes and later extreme heat. Oh how I”m dreading Summer.
