Interesting encounters last night while riding the Beast in the big city…
I was approached by a man in a parking lot who started asking questions about the fat-tired bike. While I was answering he said “did you make a video on YouTube about this bike?” He went on to describe the video and I said yes that was me. I was so surprised to meet someone at random that had seen one of my videos. He was surprised to find out it was someone local who had made the video. I still can”t get over the amount of views on that 1 particular video (54,942 as of this post).
Later while riding around the old town square a couple of gentleman sitting on a bench waved me over and wanted to see and talk about the bike. They were visiting from South Africa (actually here doing some work in the aircraft industry). They really liked the bike and our city too. They were impressed with the amount of bikes they had seen riding around and the ones hanging in a bar they”d been to. They were also impressed when they witnessed one stranger giving anothers car a jump-start. He said he asked the 2 men if they were friends and couldn”t believe when they answered no. They said that would never happen where they are from.
If I had $1 for every time I head someone comment about the fat tires on this bike as I rode by last night, I”d save them and use them to by new tires/tubes when the time comes.
