I was thinking of taking my old Specialized Rockhopper on some rides next week so this morning I was cleaning it up and oiling the chain. Afterwards I set out to ride it for a bit but only got about a mile from the house when it started to rain (again) so I returned home. I think I”ve since changed my mind and won”t be riding it and will ride my Specialized Crossroads hybrid instead. I took the photo above during the brief time I was out. My how everything is so green from all the rain.
I believe I purchased the bike new in 2002. Pictured below is me with the bike on the Prairie Spirit Trail in 2002, probably shortly after purchasing it. That was my blue, “banana bag” covering the stem and was where I carried a banana and other edible goodies.
I rarely ride the bike but hate to part with it and keep it around in case I ever ride any single-track trails that are too much for the hybrid. That hasn”t happened in a while though with the exception of playing around with the Beast on the local MTB trails.
