On this edition of Fashion Friday… Shoes.
I will wear just about any type of shoe when riding. Anything from sandals to boots but I’ve always had a pair of bike specific shoes that I wear on longer rides like rails-to-trails or mountain biking (not that we do much of the latter any more) and the road bike when I had one.
I recently bought a new pair of Shimano mtb shoes pictured above. These and their SIDI predecessors pictured below are clipless capable (or whatever the term is) although I don’t use them in that manor. I haven’t rode clipless for many years.
Pictured below are one of the first cycling specific shoes I ever bought and for some reason I’ve hung on to them. Specialized mtb that were designed for toe clips not clipless. I was still riding in toe clips until a couple years ago.
I just like the idea of having a cycling specific shoe in my closet that I won’t wear anywhere other than cycling. With the stiffer sole they are not the best for walking so I won’t be tempted to say… mow the grass in them. With these I’ve always got shoes to ride in, ready to go, not wet, not grass stained etc…
