Like I did last week, today I rode the Beast on another old railroad bed that hopefully some day will be a rail-to-trail. This one is the same rail bed that the Prairie Sunset rail-to-trail is on. I rode from Maize Rd in Wichita to where the Prairie Sunset begins 2 miles East of Goddard. I continued on in to Goddard and stopped at the McDonalds for fries before heading back.
The railroad bed is mostly covered in the original ballast which makes for a really rough ride and I can”t imagine riding it on anything with narrower tires than what the beast has.
I don”t think there are any immediate plans to improve this trail but it will be really nice if and when they do.
