Saturday’s Holiday Bike Activities
I started the day around 8:00am volunteering at a church assembling a few of the 800 new bicycles that will be given away to needy/less-fortunate/underprivileged kids this Christmas. I was there for 4 hours and put together 28 bikes. A couple others from our bike club were there along with many members of the church. This is the second year I”ve volunteered and have enjoyed it both times. Nova volunteered last year but had other plans this year.
I cut out from the church early afternoon before all the bikes were finished so we could attend a club ride. I met Nova back at home where we picked up our bikes and then went in to the big city for the ride. Our group rode around the historic Delano district which was having their Christmas celebration. We toured a couple old homes that were decorated for the holidays, stopped off at a few pubs and a friend/club members house, a restaurant for dinner then back to the pub where we started. We got home around 10pm so it was a long but very enjoyable day. With the high temperature in the mid 60s it”s hard to believe it was December 1st.
