Flint Hills Nature Trail – Council Grove

Yesterday we drove 2 hours to the town of Council Grove here in our home state (Kansas) to ride a 25 mile segment of the Flint Hills Nature Trail between the towns of Council Grove and Admire which takes you right through the beautiful Flint Hills. The Flint Hills Nature Trail is a crushed limestone trail that once finished will be nearly 120 miles in length. Riding with us was my Mother. This was her longest ride and 2nd rail-to-trail since she began riding earlier this year. Unfortunately my Father couldn’t ride as he’s recovering from a knee injury. He did come along and dropped us off at the start and picked us up at the end so we could ride it one way. In addition to the Flint Hills this trail passes through a couple small communities and Kaw Indian historical sites. We didn’t encounter another person on the trail the entire ride. We did encounter coyote, deer, turkeys and a snake.
Early this year we rode this segment. This is a great trail.
