The "Big Ditch" diverts Arkansas River flood water around Wichita. I assume it has so much water in it now even though it”s been dry, because they are diverting water while the new dam is being built on the Arkansas river.
This morning we rode in to the big city for breakfast. I had biscuits & gravy covered in salsa and a side of hash-browns. Nova was better and had whole wheat pancakes with fruit. We encountered 2 other cyclist on our trip. On the way there one hollered “going to breakfast?” as she flew by getting her exercise or whatever it is the riders on high-end road bikes dressed in full kit do on a Sunday morning. The other on the way back was a shirtless man on his old big-box store MTB with his seat way to low on his way home from a run to the c-store for a big gulp and probably smokes. Kind of the 2 ends of the cycling spectrum here. I guess we”re somewhere in-between.
Anyway it was a nice ride, a good breakfast and was already pretty hot on the return trip.
