I recently had my LBS order me a Sturmey Archer Duomatic Kick Shift hub. You slightly “kick” back (as if applying the coaster brake) to change between the 2 gears. Just like the old Bendix Automatic. Today I picked it up and laced it to a rim. For now I’m putting it on my RatrodBikes.com build-off bike. I rode the bike with the new hub tonight and my first impression of it was good.
Obvious things I noticed…
It makes the clicking noise like the SA 3 speeds do.
It takes less movement to switch between gears than the Bendix Automatic.
