Riding The Salt City & RAAM Encounter

Today, Mom, Dad and I shuttled the bikes to the near-by town of Hutchinson (aka the Salt City) to fight 28mph wind and ride the Jim P Martinez trail. The trail follows the Cow Creek and the Arkansas River then loops around Carey Park. The park”s namesake is the founder of the Carey salt company. As is tradition when we ride here, we rode by the little house where my Aunt & Uncle (RIP) lived. The house was originally a chicken coop or some kind of farm building. It was converted to a house had had a couple of small additions over the years. We also stopped at El Potrillo for lunch.
On our way home we passed a RAMM (Race Across America) rider for Team Hope. We pulled over and cheered him on as he rode by. I am in awe of what these riders do.
