Racks, Signs, Weeds And Adoption
Riding the local loop this morning…
It”s nice to still see some bikes at the school bike rack. I fear some day it will be empty or gone. I imagine there were times where it was overflowing. I”d love to have photos of this rack over the years since the school was built in 1958.
I don”t recall riding my bike to school as a kid. I only remember walking. Surely I rode at some point or on some occasions.
There used to be a sign on this post. There are other missing signs along the bike path as well. Theft or vandalism? My guess is theft.
What the missing sign read was “Bike Route”. This has always had me wondering though, is this really a bike route? I”ve always known bike routes to be marked routes on streets and roads.
I spend a lot of time pulling these little weeds from my own garden but when there”s a mass of them some where other than my house these flowers are kind of pretty.
I believe this segment of the path was just recently adopted. I”ve often thought that my family or our bike club should adopt a path whether it be here in town or out on the rail-to-trail. I don”t know why I”ve never followed through. I could see myself though, just as Kramer of the show Seinfeld was when he adopted a mile of highway http://youtu.be/qMq3w7RVnvc (not the best but the only video I could find on the episode). I think I”d take the adoption responsibilities too far or too seriously.
