Old Carbon And Sub Freezing Riding

On a recent 10 °F morning outing I got to thinking about the bike I had chose to ride and whether it was a poor choice. It was my 30+ year old Trek 8300. This bike has a carbon fiber main triangle glued to an aluminum rear triangle and head tube. I began to wonder if it’s age, the sub freezing temperature and the chunky gravel I was bouncing over was a recipe for disaster. I’ve heard stories of the joints separating on these bikes due to the old glue but I don’t know how much truth there is to that. I of course made it home without incident.
