Bike Co-op Haul
I’ve only been to our bike coop a couple of times. Not sure why. Possibly because I know I have no self restraint and will bring home loads of frames and parts at a time when I’m trying to downsize. I’m like a kid in a candy store when I’m there. A couple weeks ago the coop posted on Facebook they had a few frames they were giving away. One of them caught my attention. It was a Specialized Stumpjumper from the 90s. I contemplated all day whether to go check it out or not and finally did late afternoon just before they closed. I grabbed the Specialized frame, a couple of 26″ forks, a mismatched 26″ wheelset and a set of caliper brakes. I could have spent an hour or more there but as a courtesy to Nova who was nice enough to join me, I breezed through pretty quickly. I paid for the parts and gave a small donation for the frame.
Sadly what I would later discover as I was cleaning the aluminum frame is that it was cracked. There will be more on this frame at a later time as I do plan to go ahead and build it up despite the crack.
