New Fork For The Dumpster Bike
So I had this pink fork in my parts stash.
I thought it might look good on the seafoam green Roadmaster pictured below. I would of course need to change out the orange wheels and grips. As an added bonus I would have a front brake.
So I swapped forks, wheels and grips. The rear wheel is a 2 speed kickback. I also added a Wald 137 basket while I was at it.
After a couple of days I just wasn’t happy with the color combo. I decided to paint the pink fork to match the bike and run it with these wheels and a front brake (for a while at least).
When I went to get the seafoam green paint off of the shelf I noticed I had a can of a bright and bold pink. I decided instead to repaint it this pink.
I do think it looks better than the original pink and the colors now are somewhat reminiscent of the colors I’ve seen on old Specialized Stumpjumpers from the early 90s.
I’ll probably run it this way for a while till I tire of it and then I’ll either just paint this fork to match so I can keep the front brake and 2 speed wheel or put it all back the way it originally was with the other fork and orange wheels. I really don’t want to run a rim brake on the orange rim and mar the paint.
Better shade of pink! Sounds more functional (and safe) with this setup though the old color scheme was eye-catching. Funny I never thought about brakes marring the orange rims….
Thanks Annie. I switched it up mostly out of boredom. I do like the original color combo better but having the brake is nice. The black rim I’ve used brakes on before so it is already losing paint. Something I forgot to mention is the orange rims are steel and the black are aluminum and better for braking.
