Camping And Biking
Last week the forecasted low for a particular evening was in the upper 40s so we thought we’d take advantage of the warmer evening and go camping for the night. We hauled our bikes and camping gear to a state lake an hour away where we explored a bit of the area by bike and then spent the night. We had a fun time riding the gravel rollers. Not too long, not to steep. We’ll probably return and ride more of this area with more appropriate bikes. Back at our campsite we had a beer, made and ate dinner, then spent the rest of the evening trying to dodge the smoke from the campfire before going to bed. We woke up to a temperature of 48°F and layed in the tent waiting for it to warm up a bit before emerging to make coffee and breakfast. It didn’t warm up. We were right on the edge of a cold front. I bundled up, made coffee and we drank it while we ate bagels and tortillas in the car. The temperature dropped to 38°F by the time we headed home.
