1UP USA Bike Rack Installation & Review
In this video I install and load our new 1UP bicycle rack for the first time and then we take off on a 19 day road trip.
Update 04-17-2020
Someone asked about the amount of play in the rack where it sits in the notches so I made a short video trying to show it.
That’s an interesting rack. We have the same receiver set up on our vehicles, but have used a Yakima fork mount (where bikes hang) and are attached with rubber straps secured around the frame in two places. While this has been adequate for many years, I like the tray mount idea. It’s advantage is lowering the rack with bikes attached to allow access into rear hatch – something our rack does not do.
Prior to this when we had our truck we had a cheap tray type hitch rack that we would use on occasion, almost exclusive to haul cruiser style bikes locally. It was pretty wobbly and the clamping system broke in no time so I would just bungee everything together. When traveling we’d haul the bikes in the bed of the truck on a fork mount rack. This always worked great. With the new rack I definitely have to be more aware when backing or going off road. I am really happy with it though. This rack is pretty expensive (at least by my standards). Hopefully it’ll last a long time if not a lifetime.
As always Annie thanks for checking in and the comment.
