Bikes And BBQ

Our friends who host the annual Bicycle Bar Tour and Cajun Food dinner we attend in the Spring, hosted for the first time a Bikes and BBQ ride yesterday. We left our house at 9:40am and arrived promptly at their house in the big city at the start time of 11:00am. It’s approximately a 12 mile ride there. We hung around their house for a bit waiting for others to show and doing some last minute repairs on our host’s bike. 2 others eventually showed and the 6 of us took off. A small group compared to the Spring ride.

The person who suggested that our hosts put together this ride to eat BBQ didn’t show up so our host decided we’d eat somewhere else with more options and less expensive. Not a huge disappointment for us as we’re not meat eaters anyway. That somewhere else was a bar in the old town district of the city. After lunch (roasted cauliflower for me, cheeseless veggie pizza for Nova) we rode to a couple other bars and a brewery for beverages. Our final stop was where a friend was having her retirement party. She and her husband would have been riding with us if they wouldn’t have been celebrating this milestone. Congrats to her.

We had planned to be home before dark but that didn’t happen. Fortunately we both had brought lights just in case. Part way home we stopped and ate supper.
