Minneapolis Minnesota

Looking for somewhere to escape from the heat we decided to go north to Minneapolis, Minnesota. We’d briefly been there several years ago for the Tour De Fat and liked what we had seen then. We stayed downtown and spent 2 days riding around the city on it’s paths, bike lanes and bike routes. It’s a really bike friendly city. It was both exhilarating and a little nerve racking riding in all the traffic as a pair and not knowing where we were going.

When we went to unload the bikes on the first day I noticed Nova had a flat. The tube was damaged beyond patching so I put in a spare. We then set out to find a bike shop to purchase another tube to have as a spare. Once that was accomplished we took off on a nearby path that we later determined was the Great Rounds which went to and around a few lakes (which I didn’t get photos of). We eventually ended up on the river path and rode it back to downtown where we had a late lunch/early dinner. After eating we went in search of a brewery but what we found weren’t open, I suppose because it was Labor Day. We then went back to and hung around the river area before returning to our hotel.

Day 2 we had a couple of objectives. One was to eat at the Herbivorous Butcher and the other was to find a brewery. We crossed the river and did some exploring before picking up sandwiches from the aforementioned restaurant. We had a nice picnic lunch in a nearby park. We then explored around some more by bike and foot before crossing back over the river and ending up at Dayblock brewery where we sampled their beer. All were really good. We then returned to the hotel and that concluded our 2 days of riding in Minneapolis.

Below is a video from day 1 and photos in no particular order from both days. I didn’t video any for Youtube on the 2nd day. Other posts from this trip here.
