Sunday’s Bluz Cruz
Yesterday was our bike clubs monthly old bikes ride. Usually we would truck our bikes into the city and the ride starting point, mostly to save time but yesterday we decided to get around early enough to ride the 11 or so miles to the start of the ride.
I scheduled the ride for 9:00am hoping to beat the heat. 5 of us showed up. Our friend Glenn whom we visited in the hospital on last month’s ride was able to join us and with the heat, wind and crusty old bike he was riding, put his recent heart surgery to the test.
After the group ride which was around 10 miles we rode some more around the city with stops for lunch and beverages before returning home. One of our stops was to sample a new beer from a favorite local brewer Walnut River. The beer was an orange chile kuyt. It had a slight non-sweet citrus taste from orange zest and midway through the pint we started noticing a little scratch at the back of our throats from the heat. It was ok but we wouldn’t drink it again.
A section of gravel road we ride regularly has been closed while they regrade it and clean up the ditches. It just reopened and was resurfaced with big chunks of limestone which made for an unpleasant mile. I hope it gets packed down soon.
Seems you had a great riding day! NIce report and photos about it.
Thanks Nancy.
Yow! That surface does look chunky in that last shot, hate to have lumps of that thrown up at me by passing traffic while riding, or even driving, along it
