Another Bike Overnight. Is 3rd Time A Charm?
We decided to take advantage of a slight drop in the temperature and go for a bike overnight to our now usual place, a nearby lake. The daytime temp was mid 80s and it got down to 59 overnight. We set up camp at a different location than the previous times hoping for a better night’s rest. It didn’t happen. Screaming kids across the cove, people arguing somewhere outside the lake property, fish jumping, birds chirping, coyote howls and vehicle traffic meant another sleepless night. Nova tried earplugs but said they didn’t help much.
The 2 most annoying issues were 2 can collectors, although together they were driving seperate cars, one without a muffler. They were hitting up all the dumpsters around the lake, picking out and then crushing the aluminum cans. I’m guessing this took place around 2 or 3am. The other big annoyance was the Mockingbird(?) which sang their whole repertoire over and over most of the night. Thought it was odd to have birds singing at night
Again other than little sleep, everything else about the outing went fine. The ride was nice despite pretty strong wind. Once again we picked up ice and beer when we arrived at the lake this time opting for Modelo. The showers and bathroom nearest to our campsite were nicer than the previous. Dinner, breakfast and coffee was all good.
The noise, lights and creepiness of the vehicle traffic all hours of the night is probably the main reason we don’t sleep. Can’t help but think people are up to no good driving the lake roads in the middle of the night I attribute this to the lake being just a 30 minute drive from the city. We plan to try camping somewhere else, maybe a little more remote and see if this makes a difference. I don’t think we’ve given up on camping yet.
Photo stop on the way out. Nova and her gear. Thought the sign was interesting on this building. Also the old rv. Another photo op. Refreshment once at the lake. Dinner was a bag of Knorr teriyaki noodles along with canned veggies and flour tortillas. Our campsite. This spot is where my Dad proposed to my Mother 58 years ago. View from inside the tent. Breakfast for me was tortillas and peanut butter. A Bagel for Nova. Brewing coffee. Coffee time. Coffee time.
I so enjoy following you both. Ride On My Friends
Thanks Teri!
