Bluz Cruz And New Brews
Yesterday was Bluz Cruz Wichita our monthly old bikes ride. We trucked our bikes to the starting point in the big city. Nova and I were the only ones to show up. I suppose the below freezing temperature and the 17mph wind kept people at home. A Wichita State game and Nascar race might have also been a reason but I’m pretty sure it was the weather.
Since it was just the 2 of us we decided we’d ride to have a beer. We chose a destination that would make our ride east and west so we wouldn’t have to ride into the bulk of the wind which was mostly out of the north.
Most of the ride would be on bike lanes.
On the way out we took a short detour to find this mural we’d heard about.
Not sure what all of this represents if anything. It’s pretty cool regardless. The building houses a restaurant that serves biscuits.
At our destination, a brewery, we tried their new Cocoa Dulce Porter which they describe as follows… “Starting with our original Vanilla Porter recipe, we added Macuira chocolate from Cocoa Dolce during the conditioning phase to give it a rich chocolate body along with a slight vanilla sweetness”. It was really good.
The stein hoisting John Brown bike rack at the brewery may not be the most practical rack in town but it is the most interesting.
We then headed back to our start point making a photo stop at the Allen House a Frank Lloyd Wright designed home.
We then made one more stop at another brewery and tried their new
Altered Perception which is a white stout they describe as ” Creamy with strong coffee and hints of cocoa and vanilla”. We’d never had or even heard of a white stout before. It was also really good.
A couple mile ride back to our starting point and Bluz Cruz Wichita #14 was over.
Playing chicken with Death? Don’t know what Death’s thought bubble says…
Yeah. I’m going with that till I find out otherwise. Thanks.
