Schwinn American Update
Although this may look like a bike I’ve been riding and photographing over the summer it’s not. It’s a different blue Schwinn cantilever frame that I pulled down from the attic and swapped some of the parts over from the other blue Schwinn cantilever frame. It was manufactured in 1963. I like the patina a little better on this one. The bike has about 3 layers of different shades of blue paint which I partially sanded through in places prior to building it up. I kept the saddle, fork, wheels and tires from the other build but used a different crank, a star sprocket, blue pedals that I’ve had for a while but never used, and different handlebars which I lengthened. I received the bike years agot as an American (labeled chainguard) but to still call it an American is kind of silly as that the parts that made it an American aren’t on the bike. I still refer to it as such though as a way to differentiate it from the other Schwinn cantilever frames I have.
Cool bike, Randy! IMHO, those stars and the blue and white coloring say “American” to me!
