Western Maryland Trail

The Western Maryland Trail is a paved trail that follows the old C&O (Chesapeake & Ohio) canal for about 22 miles. We rode this trail in its entirety and some of the C&O trail which runs on the opposite side of the canal. You can ride both of these to make a loop ride. We rode 50 miles total beginning and ending in the town of Hancock. That included a couple miles beyond the Western Maryland on the C&O so we could visit the historic Fort Fredrick. The canal, Potomac river, hills, trees and history are the highlights of this ride.
This ride was one from our Fall 2014 trip.
