Mongoose Dolomite Fat-bike
The Dolomite is another poor-man’s fat-bike from Mongoose/Pacific Cycles sold through Wal-mart online initially for $219. I purchased it in March of 2014.
First off I swapped out the stock saddle for a Brooks, removed the decals and added a water bottle cage.
A few notes/observations…
7 speed, front and rear disc brakes.
The bike and fork are steel, the wheels aluminum.
The headset had little grease.
The front wheel bearings were so tight the wheel wouldn’t spin. They did have a fair amount of grease.
The bottom bracket was too tight. It did have a fair amount of grease.
The rear brake and the derailleur needed adjusting.
The decals remove easily.
The geometry is different than their first fat-bike the Beast. It’s more of an aggressive/forward riding position.
When moving my Brooks saddle from my Beast to the Dolomite I swapped seat post and all. I noticed the Dolomite seat post is nearly 2 inches shorter than the Beast’s seat post.
My heel occasionally hit the kickstand.
