The Year (2013) In Review
First I”d like to thank everyone that follows along with us and everything we do involving bicycles. We”re truly honored and flattered that you spend a few minutes of your time to see what silly things we”re up to.
I hope the fun we have with our bikes comes through in our photos and videos and entertains and maybe even inspires you to ride, build, collect or anything you might enjoy doing with a bicycle.
Also thanks to fellow bike bloggers who share our link.
Just some of our bicycle highlights of this past year 2013…
The most visited page on our site this year was one that lists all of our posts about the Mongoose Beast (here) and my first post about the Beast wasn’t even until April when I received it.
The year started out with a bike ride at our clubs annual Pot-Luck Dinner and Ride. We did several group rides with the Coasters Club through out the year. Riding and hanging out with this group is always a good time.
We made a huge change to our diet in January. More on that here.
Got in several rides with Mom & Dad.
Started the Self Pedal Portrait series which I enjoy making.
Bought a Mongoose Beast fat-bike which I’ve really enjoyed and made several videos on. The first video (here) has received over 118,000 views. One of my favorite Beast videos…
Had fun with Fashion Fridays.
Rode our first Pedaler’s Jamboree on the KATY Trail which was a great time.
Several rides on our state’s rails-to-trails like the Prairie Spirit, Southwind, Flint Hills Nature Trail, Meadowlark Trail and our own Prairie Sunset…
We spent a few days chasing and cheering on RAAM riders as they crossed our state.
Coasting the “Big Hill” with my Dad for Fathers Day.
This was my first full year of retirement and I really appreciate the extra time I have for riding even though I thought it would be much more. I explored a few new places by bike.
Our friends Bicycle Bar Tour is a great time.
Our rail-to-trail ride in Illinois was a nice one.
In addition to Mom & Dad I/we managed to get a couple of rides in with other family, our Daughter, Grand-kids and Brother-Inlaw.
Escaping the summer heat in Colorado getting in 3 great rides and seeing our first bear.
Both the Midwest bicycle Swap and the Midwest bicycle Fest were a good time.
I didn’t do a whole lot as far as building bikes this year but I did throw together a couple of “ratrods” for my Daughter and her boyfriend.
Making the Beast VS… videos has been fun.
Celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary with a trip to the West coast was an awesome time. 2 rides along the coast plus a ride in Nevada and one in Utah.
Our last group event of the year was the Coasters Christmas Lights Cruise.
As I prepare this post I’m also preparing to host our club’s 2014 New Years Day Pot-luck Dinner and Ride which we’ll be hosting for the first time. 2014 will get off to a good start just as 2013 did.
