Is This The End For The Cosmic Dreamer?
The tires and tubes on Grand-Daughter Ally”s bike were worn out.
2 options I had were…
1. Buy new tires and heavy duty inner-tubes for her beat-up old bike.
2. For the same cost as option 1, replace her old bike with a similar, brand new bike (not exaggerating).
I chose option 1 which just seemed right and purchased new tires and tubes from my LBS and the Cosmic Dreamer is now rolling again. The bike is still in okay shape and it”s rider has no complaints. The bike also has some history and a story. Ally & I were bike shopping for her at our annual swapmeet and a friend there gave it to her. The chainguard that is on the bike is not the original. Ally found it in the “free pile” at the same swap, grabbed it and asked me to put it on.
Had I purchased whitewall instead of blackwall tires, the cost would have exceeded that of a new bike.
