Meadowlark Trail – Kansas

Yesterday afternoon we drove an hour to the town of McPherson, Kansas to check out the Meadowlark Trail. The trail is a crushed limestone rail-to-trail on an old Union Pacific Railroad railbed between the towns of McPherson and Lindsborg. It is a work in progress and when finished will be 12.6 miles in length. In Lindsborg the trail will connect to the existing Välkommen Trail which is on the same railbed. We rode the 4 open miles at the trail’s Southern end starting at McPherson. It is a very nice trail so far. On this day it was really hot and windy and with trees being sparse, there is no protection from either the sun or wind. After this ride we went to check out the Sunflower Santa Fe Trail.
