Catskills Scenic Trail – New York

The Catskills Scenic Trail is a 26 mile Rail-To-Trail that runs between the towns of Bloomville and Roxbury New York. We started in Bloomville and rode to the town of Grand Gorge and back for a total of 40 miles. We had a nice lunch at the Pizza Palace in Grand Gorge. This trail has the potential to be a great trail with its beautiful and varied scenery but the trail surface is terrible. It consists of crushed stone, big stones, grass, mud, tree roots and rail-road ties that were never removed. To make matters worse this wall all covered by a thick layer of leaves.
We stayed the night before and after the ride in the town of Oneonta, NY. Following the ride we ate Fiesta in Oneonta which was really good.
This ride was part of our Fall 2012 vacation.
