Farther And Farther And Further Along
Not in the mood to do much of anything this morning I forced myself to get outside and decided I”d ride over to the park and drink my coffee (decaf). Funny thing happened though once I was on the bike. The farther I rode, the farther I wanted to ride. When I got to the park I kept on going and rode around town. once I covered the path system in town I took off riding on paved and unpaved roads outside of town. Eventually the heat and humidity persuaded me to head back home. I was ill prepared and had no water, only the coffee. Also I hadn”t brought any tools or patch kit so I didn”t want to stray much farther from home than I was. It was a really nice ride.
The elevator pictured is the DeBruce grain elevator that exploded in 1998. Photos from that tragic day here.
This afternoon I drove in to the big city to check on the progress of a new path being built. It”s quite a bit further along than I was expecting. It looked like all but one section (pictured below) near one end is ride-able. This path will connect 3 existing paths and parks once completed. The big city has a nice path system and my town does too. I just wished they connected. Our borders touch one another but there”s not a way to get there from here that I feel comfortable with.
