El Dorado Linear Path

Yesterday as kind of a Fathers Day gift to my Dad, we planned to go riding with him and my Mother. At age 78 he is still very active and loves to be outdoors more than anything. Our original plan was to ride a gravel rail-to-trail in the Flint Hills but with recent rains the trail would have been too soft. We opted instead to ride a paved trail in the town of El Dorado which is the “gateway” to the Flint Hills. Early morning when we had initially planned to leave, a storm rolled through so we cancelled our plans and just sat and drank coffee with my folks instead. After they went home the storm passed and we decided to reinstate our plans and headed out to El Dorado late morning. This path takes you from town out to the lake which shares the towns name. It”s a nice short ride, just shy of 9 miles round trip, partially follows the Walnut river, passes under many railroads and part of the trail itself is on an old rail bed. After the ride we stopped at Arby”s for lunch.
