Surprise Vacation Photos

We found a couple of vacation photos from our latest trip in an unlikely place. Our mail box. Evidently I wasn”t the only one snapping photos of our travels. So was the city of Sioux City, Iowa.

These photos weren”t free though. Even though they”re black & white and poor quality, I”m expected to pay for them. Punishment I guess for not slowing down by a few mph and taking in all their city has to offer.

So today”s mail has made our attempt at a low budget vacation even more of a bust.

Oh and this fine we received is of course all in the name of safety. Letting a passer-through know over a week later that they were speeding is sure to save lives I guess. I could understand their safety logic if there were some kind of warning sign on the highway but we sure didn”t see one and if there was one they should make it bigger.
Even though we were in the wrong, their “Speed Automated Violator Enforcement” upsets me. Had an Officer pulled us over, hand written our ticket, lectured us on how speed kills, then wished us a nice stay in Iowa, I wouldn”t be upset and would feel as though I got my monies worth.

Looking at the top photo I”m thinking maybe I shouldn”t pay the fine and instead go to court. My defense would be that whatever is stuck to our windshield was obstructing our view, therefore we couldn”t see the speed limit sign and had no idea how fast to go. Also our excuse for driving down the center of the road.

Note: I didn”t hide the windshield of the truck in the photo. They did. Some legal thing I assume. I also assume the photos above are © the City of Sioux City, Iowa.

Nova and I of course differ over who was driving at the time.
