Haysville, KS – Mayor Ken Hampton announced the receipt of a grant awarded to the City through the Community Resource Act (CRA) program, administered by the Kansas State University Division of Continuing Education. Mayor Hampton stated, “I appreciate the efforts of our Planning Coordinator Jeana Morgan in securing this funding for our Community.” The $4,000 grant will be used to establish and operate community resource programs, community education programs, and community development programs.
Surveys were given to the public to help develop class ideas based on the desired education opportunities expressed from the surveys. The Haysville Educational Learning Partners (HELP) has been established to help implement classes such as: Self Defense for Women; Weight Loss; Senior Scrapbooking; Budgeting; Hunter Safety. Classes will be offered at little or no cost to the participants.
CRA program leaders believe that by assisting communities such as Haysville, they can provide for the educational, recreational, social, and cultural needs of the community. Program leaders encourage utilizing volunteers to teach skills and educate those in the community. The City is currently looking for volunteers to teach classes.
