Last night Haysville was shaken by a 5.6 Magnitude earthquake around 10:53pm. The earthquake epicenter was in Oklahoma just East of OKC but it was felt as far away as here in Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Arkansas, Texas and Tennessee.
I believe this may be the strongest earthquake to ever shake Haysville.
A few comments about the quake from our Facebook page…

Us too!!! Crazy
We are visiting family in Ark City…shook the cabinets and the lights were swinging. Crazy!
I actually heard it coming… sounded like distant thunder, then it shook pretty good, followed by a swaying motion for a few seconds. rattled the dishes in the kitchen

“We have old plumbing old wiring and old connections and so were trying to save money in the long run and preventive wise,” said county fire chief Gary Curmode.
