Peachwood Early Learning Center on West Grand plans to be operating by November 4th.

Taco Js, currently located at 47th South and Seneca, announced they will be moving to Haysville into the former Taco Grande building on North Main.

In a recent city council meeting Haysvilles Economic Development Director James Oltman announced that O’Reilly Auto Parts would be building a store North of McDonald’s on Main Street. Their scheduled completion date is sometime in the spring or summer of 2014.

The Economic Development Director also stated construction of the Kwik Shop at Grand and Meridian should be completed in the first quarter of 2014.

Via Christi Offering Help With Health Insurance Marketplace Enrollment

Via Christi Health, through its grant-funded CARE program, will be holding several public events designed to help Kansans better understand and enroll in the health insurance marketplace.
Nationally certified navigators will provide help navigating and enrolling in health insurance coverage offered through the Health Insurance MarketPlace. The goal is to increase preventative cancer screenings through increasing access and enrollment in health insurance coverage.

The Via Christi nurse navigators will be at the following locations in November:

Campus Honered As A Blue Ribbon School

Campus High School was one of five Kansas schools recognized Tuesday as a 2013 National Blue Ribbon School by U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.

The award honors public and private schools where students either perform at high levels or where significant improvements are being made in achievement.

Campus, part of the Haysville School District, was recognized for improvements in student achievement, a category in which schools with at least 40 percent of students from disadvantaged backgrounds demonstrate the most progress in improving student achievements in state assessments.

Haysville Apartment Fire

Thursday’s fire at a Haysville apartment complex was confined to the kitchen of one of the apartments, a fire official said.
Investigators were still trying to determine the cause of the fire at the apartment in Building G of the Sarah Lane Apartments, 401 W. Sarah Lane, Sedgwick County Deputy Fire Marshal Greg Harlan said.
County crews responded to the fire after a resident reported smelling smoke shortly before noon. The fire was out about 30 minutes later.
There was slight water damage in the apartment below where the fire started, Harlan said.
No injuries were reported. A damage estimate had not been established.

Haysville Teen Detained Over Threatening Tweet

A Haysville teenager is being questioned after someone reported a threatening statement via the social media site, Twitter.

Campus High School says they were notified of the threat early Tuesday morning. The school says all threatening statements are taken seriously by both the school and law enforcement.

Police were able to quickly identify and detain the student who sent the message.

The school says disciplinary action is pending against the student. That student could also be arrested.
