“Wichita Silhouettes” — biography of Harley S. Riggs, proprietor of Riggs Plumbing Company, 2514 West Douglas. Born on a farm in Chase County, Kansas on August 19, 1905. Came to Wichita in March 1909. Established his own plumbing firm in 1940. Married a nurse, Miss Mildred Wilhelm, in 1928. They have a daughter, Mrs. L. R. (Alberta) Sampson, Jr., 616 West Grand, Haysville, and three grandchildren.

HAYSVILLE TAEKWONDO STUDENT COMPETES FOR GRAND CHAMPION

N. D. Hanson, a Haysville student, received a gold medal and competed for Grand Champion for Beginner Weapons in the Salt City Classic Open Taekwondo Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas, on Saturday, February 7, 2015. Hanson, an orange belt, also received bronze medals for point-break sparring and Olympic sparring. A student of the Kansas Chun Kuhn Taekwondo Association. Hanson performed Jahng Chun Gun 4 staff pattern, created and taught by Grand Master Bok Man Kim, the last surviving original master and proponent of Taekwondo who helped develop the martial art and spread it around the globe.

The Kansas Chun Kuhn Taekwondo Association teaches traditional Chun Kuhn Taekwondo and sport Taekwondo to children and adults while encouraging respect, cooperation and the exchange of ideas between all martial arts to promote a healthy lifestyle and the physical, mental and social benefits of practicing the martial arts.
