I received the following from Adam Tackett, coach of the 8 & Under Haysville Rookie 2 baseball team that was one of the teams representing their league in the Kansas Cal Ripken Tournament of Champions this year that was played in Oswego Ks July 19-22.
Our team was made up of players from three different teams from the league this year in the Rookie 2 division. The Royals, the Cardinals and the Scrappers. Our first game was Friday July 20 vs. Neosho River Valley Mudcats in which both teams battled out in a slug fest with Haysville finishing on top with a final score of 19-17. Our second game was played Saturday July 21 vs. the Canton-Galva Eagles. Haysville again played an amazing game defeating the Eagles in four innings 12-2. This put our Haysville team in first place in the American league pool to proceed on to bracket play for Sunday afternoon in which Haysville battled out against a very tough match up vs Columbus that ended in victory for our Haysville team with a final score of 16-7 sending them to the Championship
game Sunday evening. The Championship game put a matchup of Haysville vs. Humbolt. Both teams had been undefeated the entire tournament and carried tremendous momentum in the final game. Although Haysville lead the entire game up to the last pitch of the last inning, Humbolt battled back for an impressive victory over Haysville for a final score of 12-11 placing our Haysville Rookie 2 team in second place in the
state of Kansas in the Cal Ripken League.Parents and Coaches are very proud of the boys for battling it out in the extreme heat conditions and playing so hard and never giving up!
