Hometown Boys Soulicit To Release First CD

Soulicit is a hard working, hard rocking four piece band with three of its members growing up in Haysville and graduating from Campus in 2000 and 2002. Two of the bands members still reside in the area. The members of the band are: Andrew Weaver(bass), Dan Weaver(guitar), Darick Parson(vocals), and Craig Beebe(drums).

Brothers Dan and Andrew Weaver grew up in Haysville and have been a part of the music business the entire time. Their father was a member of one of the areas most well known bands the Ark Valley Boys. As soon as the brothers could walk they were tagging along with Dad to all sorts of concerts and events. Andrew says “I remember walking in the fall fest parade, being backstage when the AVB played the 4th of July at Colt Stadium, meeting Dottie West, Porter Wagner, and Johnny Western in Riggs Park. We followed dad all over the country. Now its our turn.” The baton has been passed and they are ready to continue the familys line of work, only in a different music genre.
As with many Haysville children, school music teachers like Donna Hanson and Dale Atkison provided musical inspiration and education to Dan and Andrew growing up.

Darick and Craig are brothers in arms. Arms being the battle they wage each night they step on to the stage. Darick, since day one, constantly surrounded himself with music of all genres. Raised in Haysville by a family that never turned the radio off, music was always an ear shot away. In his writing you will hear every real life experience we all have gone through at one point. Craig, a south side transplant, is another child of music, growing up watching his dad play the drums. A solid steady beat you can always count on to carry any song quickly was passed onto Craig from his father.

“We are proud of our home town and make no bones about that in our songs” stated Andrew. “We are all aware of the stigma that is upon those who live in the south of town.” The band embraces this “stigma” in songs such as Dirty South and feels that Haysville and South Wichita is the best kept secret in the whole county.

So far its been quite a journey for the band who has had a lot of support from their home town. The recording process for the bands first CD has been a long time coming taking about 5 years to complete. In that time of writing and rehearsing, they couldnt find a local studio to produce the professional caliber product they were after… so they started one. Craig went to school and spearheaded the project to build his own recording studio in downtown Wichita which the band says is on par with big name studios in bigger cities.

Soulicit would like to invite you to their CD release party May 15 at the Wichita Riverfest Block Party, at the corner of Douglas and Main in Wichita around 7:00pm. “Nothing would be more special to all of us than to have the support of our home town as we release our CD and start the process of promoting it to the world.” adds Andrew.
