River Fest Parade – May 8th

We are in Section #1 unit #9
Section #1 will stage on the west side of Main starting at 2nd street. Enter the area from Murdock and go south.

We line up at starting at 5:30. The parade starts at 6:30. Since we are at the front this year you need to be there on time. Everyone will need to have a button and dress and decorate their bicycles like the 1960’s or 1970’s for the “Get Your Groove On” theme. No handing out candy, literature or gifts of any kind.

Cardboard Box Night is the night before the parade. Decorate your bike with cardboard in a “groovy” theme and ride your creation both nights. Some suggestions… flowers, guitars and peace signs for your bike and a Tie-dye t-shirt for yourself.

There was an entry fee to get us in the parade. We will split up the cost and collect money the night of the parade at the staging area so bring some cash.

Once again… if you plan on riding in the parade you…
Must have a River Fest button.
Must bring cash to chip in for the entry fee.
Must decorate your bike and/or yourself in a “get your groove on” theme.
Must be on time.
Must Not throw or hand out anything.
Must ride in a safe and courteous manner.
Must have fun.

Cardboard Box Night – May 7th

Cardboard Box Night at the Thursday Night Pub Pedal. Transform your bike into something else with the help of a cardboard box or simply decorate it using cardboard. Dress yourself up in cardboard. Anything goes as long as it includes cardboard.

This date was chosen to coincide with the River Fest parade.

Get double duty out of your creation by decorating your bike with cardboard in a “groovy” theme and then ride it the following night in the Riverfest parade. The theme for the parade this year is “Get your groove on”.
Details on the parade will be announced at a later date.

See what was done at the last Cardboard Box Night here.

Tandem Night III May 28th

Tandem Night at the Pub Pedal Thursday May 28th. Ride a tandem if you have one. Let’s try and break the record for number of tandems which if I recall was around 13 on the first Tandem Night.
It was suggested that if you don’t have a tandem then ride a trike if you have one.

T-shirts with the above graphic can be purchased here. Also a few styles of last years shirts still available.
Erick also has some tandem tees here.

Past Tandem Nights can be viewed here.

South End Path

Work is being done on a new East/West path that once finished will connect the south ends of 3 existing North/South paths. The Arkansas River, Canal and Gypsum Creek.
The segment that connects the Canal to Gypsum Creek paths should be completed soon. This path will pass by historic Joyland park and through several parks and neighborhoods including Plainview and up and over 135 (canal route).
