PorkChoppd Show And Ride

Yesterday the Coasters joined in the celebration of PorkChoppd Custom Bicycles 2nd anniversary. The event included a show, awards, a ride, food, prizes, raffles and the now famous Porkchoppd cookies. Music was provided by Accent Mobile Music. We had a record setting temperature of 102 for the show and winds of 26mph for the ride but neither seemed to effect the fun we had. Thanks to PorkChoppd Custom Bicycles for another fun show and ride.

Midwest Bicycle Swap and Garage Ride Photos

The weather was far from ideal for this year’s event. It was windy on the Pre-Swap Garage Ride and the day of the swap was even windier with thunderstorms in the morning. Not quite the participation we’ve seen in the past but the day still made for good deals and good times for those who braved the weather. 30+ riders participated in the Garage Ride. The swap brought in buyers and sellers from places as far away as Enid, OK, Columbia and KC, MO and several Kansas towns. Big thank you to Mitch for putting this on and thanks to all who attended.

Celebrating Opening Day For Trails

Today 13 of the Coasters Bicycle Club celebrated Opening Day For Trails by riding our local rail-to-trail the Prairie Sunset. We rode a total of 18 miles with a few stops and surprises along the way. One stop was at a temporary rest stop that a fellow Coaster surprised us with, another stop was for lunch at the Frosty Treat in Garden Plain. What a beautiful day and great time we had.

What a surprise to find a fellow Coaster provided us with a rest stop on the trail!

Opening Day For Trails Ride

This is a leisurely ride on the Prairie Sunset rail-to-trail with 4, 12 and 16 mile options plus a stop at Frosty Treat in Garden plain.
Meet at the park at Main and Santa Fe in Goddard, KS. We leave at 10:00am sharp.
Good things to bring are water, helmet, spare inner-tube, sunscreen.
The Prairie Sunset is a crushed limestone trail on a former rail road bed. Wider tires, easy gearing might make for a better ride but not necessary. More on the trail here.

St Patrick’s Parade 2014

Another great St Patrick’s Parade in Wichita’s historic Delano district. The weather was gorgeous for most of the day. Those that stuck around pub pedaling got a little wet. Thanks to all who participated. Someone said they counted a little over 100 bikes in the parade.

All the photos here.

The Eagle also has photos here beginning with photo 58.
