Bendix Automatic Clinic 02-25

Bendix Automatic Clinic Thursday, February 25th 8:00pm at Heartland Cycle 111 N Mosley.
Bob, a veteran bicycle mechanic, will be showing how to repair and rebuild the classic two speed “kick back” hub. Both the shoe and disc models.
Bob began repairing bicycles at a young age and started working as a mechanic for Harley’s Bicycles in Hutchinson when he was just 14.

Meet at the River City Brewery 150 North Mosley around 7:00pm for a beverage before or we’ll just see you at Heartland at 8:00pm sharp.

Even if you have no interest in taking on a 2 speed hub, please come out anyway for a beer, to meet Bob, check out the Heartland shop and see your Thursday Night Pub Pedal buddies.

Another Great Chili Night

Erick and one of his many bowls of chili.

First a big thank you to Christine for donating her time, money and effort to feed us. The chili was great! Thanks to everyone else who brought food to accompany the great chili.

Also thanks to those who donated to the Bikes For Tots campaign. Between what we received tonight and the online donations we raised $218. this money will go towards the purchase of new bikes that the Salvation Army and local police departments will give to kids at Christmas. Stay tuned to the Coasters site for details on the Bikes For Tots parade and party.

Hallowheelie 2009

Despite the dreary, dismal weather last week, quite a few did show up for Hallowheelie sporting some pretty cool costumes too. Thanks to Lora for the photos.

Chili Night 11-19-09

Thursday, November 19th may be a Chili Night in more ways then one but even if it’s too chili to ride, come on out for Christine’s fabulous chili!
Usual time and place.

We will also be taking up donations to purchase our bikes for the Bikes For Tots campaign.

If you’d like, bring chips, cheese, crackers or anything else to go along with the chili.

This is our 3rd Chili Night with Christine’s chili if you’re counting.

Practice Push

Tonight instead of pub pedaling, several of the Coasters attended a “practice push” to prepare for the upcoming gravity race in OKC. Thad & Les will be competing in the Rebuilding Together Construction Derby which requires a push start. That’s where the rest of us come in.

Also I think we owe the ICT Roller Girls a plug since we destroyed most of their fliers making paper airplanes at the Garage with Wes having probably the best design. We also learned that one of the members of the ICT Roller Girls organization is the Daughter of a Coaster.

Evening At Eye Kandy

Before leaving the Shamrock we drew names from Larry’s hat to determine the first winner of two that would receive a free photo shoot from Eye Kandy Pin-Up studio. Nova’s name was drawn and we headed down to the studio. At the studio Dan’s name was drawn for the other free shoot. Erick was coerced in to having his photo taken too. While these 3 had their pictures taken the rest of us ate snacks, ogled over the pin ups portfolio and checked out Aleycia’s air brush work. It was a nice time and those that had their photos taken had fun with it.

Photos by the Eye Kandy Krew. Erick’s photo edited by himself.

Thanks to the Eye Kandy Krew for having us. Be sure to consider Eye Kandy Pin-Up studio and their fun, vintage style photography for your next portrait. More photos from the evening here.

Note: Nova was pleased with her photos but wouldn’t share.

Shamrock Cook-Out

Thanks to Dave and the Shamrock for hosting the pub peddlers appreciation night once again. The food was great! Also thanks to those who brought side dishes and deserts.
As for Dream Job Theme Night there were a few that participated. A Doctor/Shriner, Air Force pilot, Rasta man, Proctologist, golf instructor from the 1920s, YMCA personal trainer and a TG&Y worker.

Couple more pics here.

Last Night’s Hotel Tour

The Broadview Hotel is a Wichita landmark and as we learned last night, an interesting and colorful part of Wichita’s history. Thank you to Trisha (aka The Flapper) for last nights tour for the Thursday night bike bunch. It was both informative and entertaining.
Please support this grand old hotel in anyway you can whether it be purchasing a drink at the bar or a room for the night. We wish the Broadview good luck in it’s future historic renovations.
I didn’t get any decent photos last night but here’s what I did take. If you have any photo’s you’d like to share please send them to me.
